Steeped in history and in the heart of Theatreland Bow Street Taverns is just a stone’s throw from Covent Garden Tube station or a 5 minute walk from Leicester Square or Holborn.
The pub was established in 1763 and has been witness to many historical events linked with Bow Street Magistrates court and the Fielding brothers. Most notably the formation of the Bow Street Runners who are considered the first British police force. The pub was almost certainly frequented by them and has a cell in the basement that was used to house prisoners.
This pub was rebuilt in its present form in 1930 and has been involved in many films and TV shows, including “Frenzy” a 1972 Alfred Hitchcock film.
